The men's bathroom should be a embarrassment to this establish, the bathroom looks like a gas station down in the city of Detroit. So what does the kitchen look like????

Order the specials! There is a new(ish) chef and whoever it is is churning out some great eats! I would say in my last 10 visits, 7 or 8 of those times I ordered off the specials menu and have not been disappointed! Fresh breads, homemade potato chips, baked mac & cheese, prime rib sandwich, salmon burger, chicken wellington, and a perch/crab cake combo have been just some of the reasons the hubs and I have been ordering off the special menu! Management should let this person just completely redo the menu!

I live pretty close to Baraboo and love craft beer. The problem? Their beer kind of sucks. The food isn't that much better, either. I stopped by for a meal one Friday evening after work, drinking beer and watching the Tigers. I had a Cajun chicken sandwich and it was nothing special. Chicken was OK, tasted a little rubbery. I had a Shark Tooth Bay Ale and it was bad, almost like a skunk beer. I've been there on weekends and it's alright. The smoking patio is nice and the decor of the place in general isn't too bad. It's not a dive but it's not an upscale bar; kind of a tweener. It's a place for friends to hang out and what not. The parking lot is small so be prepared to either drive around a couple times or park on the other side of the lot. I will update my review after trying different food options and different beers, and I'm hoping the new IPA (I think it's new?) strikes my fancy. The prices, based off their menu online, seem a bit more pricey than competitors. UPDATE: I have been back to Baraboo, and my rating remains the same. The beers are pretty weak overall (nothing above 5.5 ABV -- really?) and they didn't even have the porter available when I was there. The Tuesday $2.50 pints are nice but you need a little variety. I've been to my fair share of breweries and this one ranks at or near the bottom. BREW SOME MORE BEER! BE CREATIVE!

The food is always good here and the quantities are generous. You can't go wrong with the menu choices. I love the French onion soup. Great burgers too. When you're feeling sad or blue, head on over to The Great Baraboo!!

Baraboo has certainly gone up and down over the years, and they've been on the "up" for a while now. The house beers have seen a dramatic increase in quality, and they're now rotating their taps on a much more regular basis and the rotation makes sense! The Pale Ale isn't on when the IPA is on, the Porter isn't on when the Brown is on etc... and the seasonals that I've had over the past few months have all been well made and well suited for the season in which they were brewed. They also have three to four guest taps on at any given time, so there's plenty of variety; lots of styles are usually well represented between the house beers and guest taps. The quality of the food has increased greatly as well. The specials change daily and the regular menu has been revamped a little too. I've been pretty impressed with the changes, and this is one of the "go to" places when we're not sure where to out. Keep it up!

They have an OK selection of beers. I really don't like coriander in beer, nor have I jumped on the IPAs bandwagon, but I was able to find some decent beers. The food was above average and the waitstaff was friendly and casual. Great place for an informal date or relaxing after work.

My family has eaten here many , many times since they opened years ago. They used to have great food and staff but lately they have been in a nosedive !! Went today and the service was absolutely awful !! As we pulled in the wait staff was sitting outside having a smoke, then we get inside and have to wait several minutes to be seated by the same people who were outside smoking...yuck My salad looked good at first glance but as I went to mix the dressing in I realized that 80% of the salad was totally yellow lettuce that should have been thrown out , but instead it was hidden under a few good pieces. When I pushed the salad aside they never asked if anything was wrong. That was just the salad. There were issues with everything there and the wait for the food was long, and the wait for the bill ( after telling them we needed it) was even longer !!! Must have gone for another smoke !! Avoid this place It's sad, used to love it :(

Went to this place for the first time with some work friends for dinner and I got the ribs with waffle fries and the sampler appetizer platter. Average bar food, average priced. The atmosphere was very low key though karaoke night started which was kind of amusing. Great service!

Great place to hang out with friends or have a beer alone. The bartenders are friendly and the food is great.

It's been a long time since we've been to this restaurant, and I can see why. Food was OK but service was horrible. Megan was not friendly or attentive, her attitude was extremely poor. Lucas, The waiter was able to provide better service. It will be a while before we go back, especially for the price.

Ordered the Wednesday night rib special for $9.99 and it was delicious, the meat fell off the bone. Fries were also pretty delicious as well, the service was a little slow for being a Wednesday night. I also ordered a mixed drink and it came back with whiskey instead of Captain Morgan (obvious difference in taste). The waiter replaced the drink but didn't even offer to comp my drink or anything after I had waited about 10 minutes to let him know it was wrong. By that time I was done with my meal.

Overpriced dog food. If there was an option to select anything less than one star I would have selected it instead of one star. Stay away from this place.

I've honestly never thought of this place as a brewery. It never came to mind when I was drinking their beer that it was anything much other than any other beer on the market. The pizza however, is really, really good. I guess they have other stuff on the menu other than pizza, but when you do something right, there's not always alot of sense in going off and exploring. Staff here is cheery and party starter types that get everyone going. There are dart boards here and the music can get loud in the later hours. Some might even meet someone new here. It's a fun place to hang out and during the day, it is family friendly. Stop by and get a pizza and some brews!

If you enjoy bartenders that do not pay attention and having to chase down a manager to get your 20 minutes empty beer - then have I got the place for you! Perhaps you know the bartender and can then get some sort of service and assist them in ignoring the other customers. My point is - what a disappointment. Never saw the manager walk around and talk to customers - the bartenders act irritated if you DARE ask for another drink - you have to ask for a menu instead of being offered one - and good luck getting them to remember what you were drinking. They have to check your receipt multiple times to avoid asking you. The food is decent but hit or miss. Using Sweet Baby Rays as your sauce tells me this is a heated up GFS menu. What a disaster in customer service. We will not be back.

I've always liked this place although I have been a handful of times. French onion soup is really good. The food selection here is pretty standard but good! The beer selection of course is vast. I ordered the sampler which came with 8 or 9 pretty hefty samples. I'm not one for the dark beers so I didnt drink those. I ended up settling on a lighter German beer. Service was good, except for.........lil miss hostess, obviously inexperienced, was incredibly rude. There were 2 young girls at the hostess station and I walk up and request a table for 8. The rude one says "there's gonna be a wait" in the most snotty tone and look ever. . I ask how long - again very snotty she says, "30-45 minutes." I then say "OK, can I put my name down?" Sure, the nice one puts my name down & gives me buzzer & I step aside. As I assess the seating situation for a minute - I approach the bar and its WIDE OPEN. Thanks ladies for offering that up. If one thing grinds my gears is BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE i.e. rudeness to a customer. Bartender was friendly and our waitress later was fine too. I almost felt like had I not asked to put my name down or even thought to check out the bar - did they think I was just gonna leave because " THERE WAS GONNA BE A WAIT"? All in all my experience there has been a good one here at the Baraboo. Parking lot is somewhat of a nightmare when they are busy but there is extra parking in the way back.

Absolutely love their micro brew beer and their food is great too! Though I usually come mainly for the beer ; ) Great atmosphere too.

I love Baraboo, the Blackstone Porter is one of my favorite beers, tasty menu and like every else said, the pizza is on point. $2 boo pint Tuesday is a great deal especially if your in the mug club...which you should be!

Nothing to write home about. Food is mediocre, beers are mediocre, all around, I'd say ehhh, It's ok. Inside atmosphere is nice, but the loud random drunk constantly yelling kills it. Waitstaff is good, personable and timely. Martinis are different and good.

The Great Baraboo is a wonderful place to go! Their brews are amazing and I still have a hard time finding a Porter like theirs. All servers and managers are great at what they are doing and the daily specials show how much their cooking staff enjoys their job! The best thing to try is their artichoke dip! It's to die for. Moving over to this area around a year ago this was definitely the first regular spot I found. The atmosphere is the best part! A++ in my book

First of all, their beer is fantastic. They have about 5-6 different varieties ranging from pilsner to porter. I tried their seasonal pumpkin ale, and it was truly the best pumpkin beer I've had. We came here to play Trivia on a Monday night. There was a good crowd, and there were at least 10 trivia teams. It was great. The service is a bit slow. I didn't try the food, but I'm sure I'll be back.

After my terrible visit in May, I contacted management and as an apology, they gave me a giftcard to return. I used the giftcard for a BBQ Pulled Pork Pizza, which I ordered to-go. First of all, the pizza had no onions, although the menu said it should. However, with or without the onions, this pizza was horrible. I ate a piece and so did my friend, and we threw away the rest of the large pizza. It was one of the worst pizzas I have ever tasted.

I've been here bunch, and I have to say that this place has severely gone down hill in the last couple of years. I can't stand the new menu. Why put the mushroom swiss burger on a pretzel roll? Doesn't seem to go well together. It was my favorite burger. I'm sure you can order it on a normal bun, but it's just an odd pairing. I'd prefer the sweeter bun on something with more of a salty flavor, like a bacon cheddar burger, or just note on the menu that a pretzel roll can be added to any burger. Makes more sense that way. It was game time, and I didn't even want to discuss the possible "custom order," so I went with the sliders instead. They were completely garbage. Dry, undercooked, pre-formed, frozen beef patties, with absolutely no flavor. I was severely disappointed. Service was putrid. I was there for the MSU/UofM game, it wasn't that busy, we went 45 minutes during the 2nd half without being asked if we wanted anything else (I would have ordered a round of shots, another $20 to the bar, but our waitress sucked). Then when she finally did come by, our waitress dropped off the tab without asking us if we wanted anything else. Horrible service. Beer was good, I had the porter and it was more than adequate. A little on the light side, but still good.

Apparently you can smoke in the enclosed patio. Really made for a horrible dining experience for my group. I felt like I was in a bar in the late '90's. Disappointed!!!

Wish there were individual rating for food and service. The food is good the beer is great, the service is virtually nonexistent. Perhaps it is because a group of us go up there around ten P.M. And they are not staffed- but there are normally three servers which we see, seems none of them want to wait on anyone. We are all in the service industry and have and continue to tip over 20% but it doesn't seem to help. We still end up going to the bar to order our food and drinks. Wish they could get service down- we are currently looking for another after work location.

I always get the chicken pita, it's yummy! Waffle fries and onion rings are good. They have a good kids menu too. They have a large variety of things to order from and always have specials too.

I in my youth, about the time they opened, I used to go to Barbaraboo,s quite often. It had good beer, nice waitresses and pretty girls. What else could a kid want? Recently took a date there. We wanted something different. Not the typical dinner date etc. etc. The ambiance was I expected her to. A nice, sports bar mix of young and old, happy people eating and drinking etc. We sat down and the waitress finally found us. It was busy, but not that busy. We ordered drinks and waited. After a while she finally returned and explained that the bartender was busy. She took our your order. We ordered and waited. Meanwhile the table beside us sat down, ordered, got their drinks, and got their food while we waited. I realize everyone can have an off night , it may have not been the waitresses fault. When the food finally came, I was ok. I a I ordered beef stroganoff. This definitely wasn't the typical bar food menu choice but it turned out to be quite tender. I was expecting a few mushrooms but, it's bar food. My date was not too thrilled with her chicken but she took what she didn't eat home. I stopped by the restroom as I was leaving. I couldn't believe it. there was toilet paper hung over the stall which was disgusting. The entire place looked and smelled like he had been clean for a week. I just had to leave it was so bad. My date had to stop at a gas station restroom on the way home. She said the restroom yet the restaurant was so filthy she couldn't use it. I understand slow service. I understand a bad night for the waitress. I don't understand unhygienic conditions. The owners need to do something. It's their place of business. If I could go lower than one star I would.

Been going to Great Baraboo for several years now. Every time I go back, it seems to get worse and worse. 5 of us went there after work for some apps and drinks last week. We experienced the absolute WORST service ever and the bar was not even that busy. The waitress was the crankiest person I have ever met and was visibly bothered every time we asked for another round of beers. With awful service, sub-par food and a not-so-great beer selection, I'm really not sure how this place continues to thrive.

Stopped here while running early for a wedding. Good cold beers, but the hot wings were a disappointment. You can't judge a restaurant by sampling one appetizer, but the wings had to be some of the worst that I have ever had. If I was in the area, I would give the place a second chance, but just no wings!

Some of the reviews here I bet are from people that wouldn't know great service and great food if it were handed to them on a silver platter. I travel to a lot of states each month and it's difficult at best to find a place where the quality of food (the proportions are more than enough) is as good and presented well as The Great Baraboo. The waitress, waiters and bartenders all are very professional and have never seen one constantly check to see what a person ordered as described in another review. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for great food, great beer and drinks and a great atmosphere to soak in. Highly recommended!!

great local place to watch the games--has been popular for years--they have daily specials--people call this place the boo--bar staff are super friendly & the food is good--they have happy hour which is fun.....

I usually end up going here every couple of months are so. Service is usually okay, and save for the Wisconsin Cheese Fries, there's nothing special about the food. Drink prices are high for what you get too. This place used to be awesome, but not so much lately.

This was our first time here (myself, my husband and two kids) and we loved it. The waitress was great - very attentive and friendly. We ordered burgers and waffle fries and my one son ordered chicken tenders. (Other son is a baby so he obviously didn't eat anything). Everything was very tasty and we tried the beer and ended up buying a growler to take home with us. This is a great place to watch a game or for a family dinner. We will definitely be back!

Not a good place for sports fans. With all of the college football games and a Tigers day game going on Saturday, they had TEN of their TVs devoted to Keno!--including three of the largest at the bar seating. Ridiculous.

Great beer, food and atmosphere. Their beers that they brew are pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the name/logos that they give them, but it's all about the taste. Try the pizza, it's pretty good.

The only thing that made this a 3 star was our waitress. Very nice..attentive and good humored. Wish I could say the same for a particular female bartender. We used to sit at the bar, but I really cant deal with bartenders who seem like your bugging them all the time. Ok, so I had the ruben. Eh..had better, but it was ok. It was dry on marbled bread. Just seemed like it was thrown together without much thought. So, I wont say Im a fan for the ruben or the bartender who seemed like she didnt want to be there, but I like the atmosphere and beer.

Which is an AMAZING Rating! why you probably ask? I am not, nor never been a fan of the Great Baraboo, even when my daughter worked there in 2003-2006, the place never did anything for me. BUT, this past Thursday I had a Bogo Coupon & it was close by . So went in and got a server who claimed' she was in training, but she had the confidence & charisma of a seasoned pro Casey A+ They had the Kobe Burger on special for $11 and I have always wanted to sample /try/ experience this KOBE Beef phenomenon so at that price why not. KOBE BURGER A+ Onion Rings C- Cole Slaw a B+ I also must admit, I LOVE the sister restaurants of the Great Baraboo 1} the Shores Inn 2} Gilbert's Lodge

This is a nice sit down place to get a drink and pizza. The pizza wasn't bad at all. The service was good. Drink prices weren't to bad. If you go here, go on the day the have half off pizzas, I believe it's Monday's.

"The Boo" is the hometown bar of choice among my friends and I. When I was home for the holidays, I'm pretty sure I was here everyday for 2 weeks straight. I assure you that I'm not an alcoholic, this place is just a great place to meet up, hang out, watch the game, enjoy a drink, eat some good food, and CRANK UP THE JUKEBOX!!!! The staff here is wonderful. Suzy Q. is our waitress of choice. We even plan our attendance on whether or not she will be working. The waffle fries and the chicken quesadillas are favorites amongst our group. The jukebox bumps this place up near the top of my list..unless that dreaded person gets there before I do and chooses 100 HORRIBLE songs to play in a row. I highly recommend the Boo if you are looking for a place to call your own that has a Cheers like feel or if you are just looking for some place random to catch the game.

Ok, I'm really glad that the folks from the baraboo sponsored our softball team but it doesnt mean that it doesnt have its flaws. Lets start with the positive, THE BEER is awesome!!! and cheap, they brew their own,so its always fresh ( I hope) straight to you glass pint, the food especially the wings and pizza are pretty good compare to lets say......pizza hut. The only negative I can say about this place is the service, well maybe not all servers are bad but there is this particular server that ticks me off everytime she gets our table( she looks like a gothic, emo type of person), attitude is just terrible and it looks like she's experiencing menipouse everytime, other than that, all servers are pretty cool.

Sports bar atmosphere with their own microbrewery supplementing the beer selection. Chef's specials change daily and are quite good especially the Kobe Beef Burger. Unfortunately the fries and onion rings are frozen and often tastes of freezer. The french onion soup is the best in the area! If a local sports team is playing (Wings, Lions, Tigers) then there are specials during the game. Not a bad place to hang out.

GB has been around for quite some time, and yet I never feel the need to make a trip out there. It's the sort of place you stumble across rather than seek out. I've decided that any brewery that makes a red ale will probably stay in business indefinitely because suckers like me just love reds. That being said, GB's red is great. However, I wasn't very pleased with their blonde or their stout. And honestly, when I go to a brewery I'm looking for a good stout more than anything else. No good stout? No five stars! Marc is right. Sundays are for football... and I'd suggest avoiding them at all cost. If you've ever tried to carry on a conversation in a room full of meatheads "watching the game"... you'll understand why I say this. It's not that it's bad, it's just not for me. I want a lazy Sunday, not a crazy screaming Sunday! I'd check it out simply based off the fact that when your crawl to Dragonmead, begging and pleading for her to take you back, it will be all the more fulfilling when she does take you back and you realize that it wasn't worth cheating in the first place!

  • Me P.

This was my first time eating and drinking here. Their beer was just ok tasting, a Samuel Adams beer would have been better. Their food was awful. I ordered their fish special of the day. The fish was overcooked, chewy and dried out. The mixed vegetables and red skin potatoes that came with it were bland and I'm pretty sure microwaved. Won't be going here again.

    (2)
  • Marc A.

Many, many flat screen TVs. It's a decent place to watch Sunday football with decent food. The cheese sticks and nachos are filling and not expensive. The music they play is terrible and too loud (either top 40 emo crap or sappy love songs, in a bar/restaurant nonetheless) so control the jukebox if you can. You probably won't walk away terribly impressed or disappointed.

Went here because we had a coupon, but won't be back. The place was dirty. There was literally a layer of dust on the molding of the wall they sat us up against. The waitress was less than amused to be there and the food was nothing to write home about. Maybe I missed something because I know the place has been there for a while, but wasn't at all a place that I couldn't wait to get back to.

We visited on Wednesday late afternoon during the BOGO appetizer special. If I were rating the beer alone, it would receive a 5-star. We started off with the sampler which was fantastic. All the choices were good, and we selected the Snake Eye and Caraboo Wheat. However the appetizers I would have to give a 1-star. We had the Wisconsin Cheese Fries and Boneless wings. BOTH were extremely dry and overdone. Then to top it off, we had just finished the sampler beers when the dry appetizers arrived, and it took an extremely long time to receive our drinks. Although the waitress was very friendly, service was poor. She blamed the long wait for the beers on the bartender, never brought the menu back after we had asked to see it again (we were going to try something else since the appetizers were disappointing) and I had asked for hot sauce to try to salvage the dry food but that didn't come until we were almost finished. We were there around 4:30, and the place did not appear to be that busy. In the end, the beer was good, staff friendly, cozy environment, and the menu did have a lot of interesting choices......I would try this place again.

Love going to breweries, but the ones I frequent usually don't have very decent menus. Until I tried this place. Great beer. Great menu items. The beers might not be as complex as some of the other local brewpubs, but they are decent enough, and the food is fantastic.

    (4)
  • John V.

Just OK. The beer is average, they also have mainstream beers. We had the Nachos and the flat iron steak. The nachos were average. Not bad, nothing great. The flat iron steak was underwhelming. The vegetables it came with were cold and there was a little amount of potato on the plate. Maybe I need to try something different, my choices were not satisfying.

  • Chris R.

My biggest complaint is that I had a coupon that said $7. off 'any menu item'. But the cheap-ass manager said we couldn't use it because my GF order didn't cost enough!! WTF, dudes, any item means any item!!

I have given this place multiple tries and each time walk away disappointed. The food is nothing special and I have tried multiple beers which they brew only to be disappointed. CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS! FOOD IS ALWAYS COLD AND THEY KEPT BRINGING US THE WRONG ORDER. I am done with giving them chances...

I went here about a year, maybe year and a half ago for a friends birthday. I had never been, but everyone insisted we stay on his side of town, so who am I to argue? Onwards to Great Baraboo... They were having some special of some sort, $2 pints I wanna say, and I really didn't feel like spending money, so I decided to partake. I really regretted it quickly. I tried the wheat beer, which was the consistency of Blue Moon with a sprinkle of sediment in the bottom. Oh, it also tasted like a combination of toilet water and fermented hops. I told the waitress the beer tasted like a used enema bag and she suggested another beer, apologized and let me continue to order the pints at $2. That was the only redeeming factor. If she hadn't taken care of me, I would've left pretty quick. The atmosphere was pretty dull and unconvincing of anything other than "people sitting around while some dude yells into a mic and some guys shout at each other about sports". I have tons of places I can go if I want that to happen. So regardless, I don't like crappy beer. I don't like paying for crappy beer. I don't like when ALL of your beer tastes like crap. I don't like a generic brewery setting. I don't like obnoxious dudes shouting into mics. I will though, as a promise to myself, give the place a second chance. Might've been an off night, maybe an off batch. I will try it if I'm in the area, but I am not making that hike unless I am bribed to.

For me, this place is a poster child for the need for Yelp to allow awarding 1/2 stars. 4 seems just a tad on the high side, but 3 seems to low for a place that I've been too many times and have more positive to say than negative. The good: The food is casual and seems to be a price that's appropriate to the quality and service levels. I can't say anything I've had here is amazing, but it's been better some where between better-than-average to good. They put some higher end items on the menu and they're passable, but I would not typically suggest going here for top notch food. Overall, the atmosphere is a win for me. You'll probably never feel over dressed or undressed, and there is a bar area that's a little more "in the mix", along with some booths on the other side of that are a little more restaurant-like and intimate. Something that will probably only be specific to me- but I liked the location- it was a little out of the way, but if you two east-siders needed a place to meet, this was somewhat central in terms of east/west boarders of Macomb country. If you've read any of my other reviews, you know I don't overly snotty or opinionated about rating micro breweries. I think too many people pretend to know what they're talking about when it comes to deciding what's "good" or not, and at the end of the day, so many of the taste the same anyway. I'll say the beer is just fine here, they're are even a few I liked, and I'll leave it at that. I also remember their giant beers being pretty reasonably priced. The not-so-good: This bar may have tried to a little to hard to be all things to all people. I stand by my assertion that I like the atmosphere, but it's not really just a brewery, it's not really just a sports bar, and it's not really just a restaurant. And the emphasis on one over the other may depend on the day you go, which can be a little frustrating when you're in the mood for one and not the other. You may come to catch part of the hockey game and have dance music blasting. Along the same lines, the crowd varies too. You can have a family seated on one side of you, and a bunch of drunk football fans sitting on the other. It's a bit of a roll of the dice there. In the end, I frequented it mostly as a restaurant during restaurant hours. I've been there a few times for bar hours too and enjoyed myself, but I'll be honest, I limited my visits as a bar... its in one of those areas that doesn't lend itself well to having more and than a beer or two and driving. GB is on the border of two communities and is nestled among somewhat quieter neighborhood area. The kind of area where you stick out like sore thumb if you're on the road much past midnight, and the police probably assume you're leaving one of the area bars near there. 24 ounce beers for $4 or 5 don't help either, so just be careful. Anyway, even though there is not a ton of competition, I feel it's one of the better restaurants in the area. I probably would not recommend driving out of the way to check it out, but if you're out and about near 16 mile, it's definitely worth dropping in.

MMMM this place is great! Great ranch and good game day deals. Tons of TV's and live music on the weekend. They also have great food. I have never had anything I haven't liked here. My only complaint is that with all of their beer options they have no hard cider:(

This is a great place to go grab a drink, but not dinner. The cooks are super slow. My friend and I waited over an hour for chicken wraps. I did say something to management, and they gave us 20% off, which somewhat helped.

Great Baraboo is where we go when we want good food to munch on during the game. Their microbrews are decently varied and inexpensive enough to try them all (and if you find a favourite, their Growlers are a great thing to bring home). The only time I was less than satisfied was with a pasta dish, so I would advise people to stick to what Great Baraboo does best - appetizers, burgers and classic bar fare. The specials keep me coming back to try new twists on the classics (Kobe beef burgers, for example) and I've always appreciated their excellent and speedy service - no worries about making it to a movie or concert after dinner! Since it's such a local fixture, make sure to actually look through the penny-saver you get in the mail, there are some excellent deals to be had with their coupons!

I think a 2.5 star rating would be more accurate but I can't bring myself to give them 3 stars. Their burgers are tasty but the menu may as well end there. The fish is always dry and poorly executed. While I enjoy the burgers, there's something about the food that just isn't filling. Every time I eat here, I clean my plate and never quite achieve that "satisfied" state of being that a full stomach can bring. What's more is the waitstaff isn't terribly friendly. The beer is fair but there's nothing to set GB apart from any other brewery in the Metro Detroit area. I can't think of anything they do here that other breweries don't do better. If I want to drink, a bar would be cheaper. If I want to eat, a restaurant would taste better. If I want to catch the game, a sports bar provides that better. (I've been here on major game nights and they'll blast music rather than turn the volume up on the game.) To be honest, the only thing this brewery has over other breweries in the area is proximity to my home.

Pretty good food and beer. Service is usually decent. If it's warm out, ask to sit on the patio. Something about the smell of car exhaust from Moravian really adds to the ambiance.

There is sometimes a very fine line between a bar and a restaurant. We prefer the obvious ones, like a blatant dive, but sometimes we blend the worlds Hence the Great Baraboo Brewing. We figure since they do have a big bar, a good patio, and they brew their own suds it has to count. It is setup about the same as most breweries I have been to. Growlers on display and brass vats placed strategically near the walk ways, t.v.'s placed along the minimal open spaces of the walls, and a plethora of micro brews. I loved it. The Sharktooth Golden Ale was nothing short of bliss on a hot afternoon. At $5.50 for a tall (23oz) it was priced about right for what it was. The burger selection was large enough to spark conversation about ho is getting what and why. It am down to the one that was highlighted on the menu and the other had pulled pork on top. The Applewood comes with 1/2 lb Certified Angus Beef burger topped with Applewood Bacon, onion straws, Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce and cheddar cheese on a grilled Kaiser roll and then the Chipotle BBQ comes adorned with 1/2 lb Certified Angus Beef burger topped with cheddar cheese, smoked bacon, BBQ pulled pork and chipotle mayo on a grilled Kaiser roll. Both also had lettuce, tomato, and onion. Both were very promising morsels. Applewood- Burger- 3 Price- 2 Service- 2.5 Overall- 2.75 Chpotle BBQ- Burger- 3 Price- 2 Service- 3 Overall- 2.75 The place had good drink with everything else being about average. Still good food and nice outdoor atmosphere leading to a good meal. The only reason that the service took a hit was that we had empty glasses once and it did take bit to get a beer listing. Other than that it was a good experience, we are just very picky.

Met an old friend for lunch today. She has a bad allergy to Gluten and asked the waitress if they had any gluten free items. "No" she was simply told, so a salad was ordered. The salad arrived with a huge piece of bread placed diagonally across the top of her salad! People with extreme allergies to gluten cannot even touch certain items without breaking out let alone sitting on top of their food. Did the waitress even know what "Gluten Free" meant when she was asked? People handling others food should be trained better and even though management shouldn't "have to" place special diet foods on their menu, they should be trained to know what menu items they have that can be substituted to accommodate their patrons.

Great Baraboo has some 5 star qualities going for it and I come back here for those things but also has some 1 or 2 star qualities that drag it down. Pros: Good dinner specials, coupons (entertainment, other) Perch, Blue Burger, Waffle Fries, Black Stone Porter, good service (mostly) good bang for the buck even if you don't have a coupon. They make their own beer and it's good. Cons: Urine smell wafting in the air coming from the bathroom when people come walking out. Beer specials are actually the beer that got skunked (or was it the urine smell coming from the bathroom?)

Just looking for a calm evening out with the hubby for a bite to eat after a long work week on a Friday night. I recall coming to this place a year or so and being happy with the food so why not. Much to my surprise, we entered the doors and were escorted through a maze of tightly packed tables and chair space on the floor to be seated. I'm not obese but I'm also not skinny and it was a bit too cozy for my taste. The food menu was quite vast so I definitely had options. I ordered a salad with black beans, corn, and tortilla strips that the waitress advised me to get the dressing on the side due to sometimes it being too heavy if put on by the chef. I took her up on the suggestion and it was tasty but maybe too much on the lettuce with bulks of it just being thrown on the bottom in large quantities. My husband ordered the ribs and said they were tasty. The place was bit noisy but that is to be expected on a Friday night at a happening place.

This is a great bar because it caters to a wide variety of patrons on many levels. Location doesn't have much around but if you are looking for a neutral place in the mid to northern Macomb county area you should check it out. 1 star - Food - all the food I have eaten here is fantastic. I'm pretty sure it's all GFS but the kitchen does a great job with preparation. 1 star - Diversity - Not only does the place offer food and microbrews; they offer a full bar including domestic beers. Not everyone wants a microbrew so they cover all grounds. 1 star - Bartenders - they have had many of the same bartenders for years so seeing familiar and friendly faces is nice. They're also efficient and give some pretty good pours. -1 star - General staff - I've had many servers here and most of them have been unfriendly and/or felt really forced with their interactions. -1 star - Microbrewed beer - They never change their type, offer only one rotating tap from what I could tell, and the beers they do have are pretty average to below average.

It's not too often that I take the trip way out to Clinton Township to nosh on some food at The Great Baraboo, but whenever I do my tummy is always happy I did. This restaurant/microbrewery is the epitome of what a bar/restaurant should be, great burgers, fish and chips, salads and awesome handcrafted beers all in a lively environment. Sports are always flashing on the televisions that line the restaurant along with Keno, but I'm always too engaged in my food to care about the Tigers or the Red Wings. As a vegetarian I've pretty much had every kind of veggie burger one could imagine. I honestly believe that the Great Baraboo has got one of the best. A house made veggie patty, smothered in roasted peppers and mushrooms always satisfies. And to wash it down, a variety of fantastically flavorful brews like their Red or their seasonal Raspberry. In addition, this gem offers chicken Cesar salad, fajitas, and a kids menu for the little ones with such classics as chicken strips and grilled cheese. The service is always great and the food consistently good. This is not only a great place to watch a boxing match or a Pistons game, but is an exceptional and welcoming family restaurant in general.

I've been to the Boo quite a few times and I haven't really been too impressed. Whenever I've ordered something other than a burger it hasn't been good. The last time I was recommended the ribs so I gave em a try and my verdict: not good. I also have never really found any of their microbrews to be anything special. So basically if you want a burger and a Sam Adams or a Bud Light while watching a game or sitting on the little patio this place is perfectly fine but if you are looking for more I think there are better places around the area.

Good food at good prices. Nice atmosphere with tons of tvs for games and $1 off beers during pro games. Beers are decent. My beer of choice is ipa and theirs has a nice taste but is very light. I wouldn't go back for beer in particular but overall a solid 4. If we lived closer we'd go there much more often.

Love going to breweries, but the ones I frequent usually don't have very decent menus. Until I tried this place. Great beer. Great menu items. The beers might not be as complex as some of the other local brewpubs, but they are decent enough, and the food is fantastic.

Went to this place for the first time with some work friends for dinner and I got the ribs with waffle fries and the sampler appetizer platter. Average bar food, average priced. The atmosphere was very low key though karaoke night started which was kind of amusing. Great service!

It's been a long time since we've been to this restaurant, and I can see why. Food was OK but service was horrible. Megan was not friendly or attentive, her attitude was extremely poor.

Keep it up!

Love going to breweries, but the ones I frequent usually don't have very decent menus. Until I tried this place. Great beer. Great menu items. The beers might not be as complex as some of the other local brewpubs, but they are decent enough, and the food is fantastic.

The IPA was not very good and the service around the bar was bad, unless you were a regular. I won't be back.

Went to this place for the first time with some work friends for dinner and I got the ribs with waffle fries and the sampler appetizer platter. Average bar food, average priced. The atmosphere was very low key though karaoke night started which was kind of amusing. Great service!

Keep it up!

Stopped here while running early for a wedding. Good cold beers, but the hot wings were a disappointment. You can't judge a restaurant by sampling one appetizer, but the wings had to be some of the worst that I have ever had. If I was in the area, I would give the place a second chance, but just no wings!

I love Baraboo, the Blackstone Porter is one of my favorite beers, tasty menu and like every else said, the pizza is on point. $2 boo pint Tuesday is a great deal especially if your in the mug club...which you should be!
